Auckland YHA, New Zealand
With most YHA hostels in New Zealand, this accommodation option is a sound choice for all types of travellers – independent backpackers, young families and silver haired couples.
The reception area is a little cramped, but staff are ready to assist and are very friendly. The kitchen area at this hostel is by far the best we have encountered in New Zealand. Large, spacious, clean and very well appointed, this kitchen meets the busy hostel demand.
The rooms, both dorms and double combinations are also very clean and comfy. The dorms have adequate space for both bags and bodies. The rooms facing the road unfortunately get rather noisy at night and early morning from street traffic – the windows are old and the glass paper thin.
This YHA Auckland is not as central as the competition, approximately a 10 minute walk down hill to the centre. Not that there is anything worth walking to in Auckland.
