Hotel Majestic, La Paz

Located in the middle of the overwhelming chaos of central La Paz, Hotel Majestic is a relaxing refuge from the city’s hustle and bustle.

You are on the doorstep to the famous witches market (where you can purchase a lama’s foetus for the folks back home) and only 10 minutes walk to the popular ‘El Prado’ shopping drag.

There is a huge choice of accommodation in La Paz, so much so we looked at a further six hostels in the immediate area and found nothing close to what Hotel Majestic could offer.

The reception staff greeted us rather coldly on arrival – but then we did turn up on their door shortly after 5am. Our double room was very clean, well equipped and provided a fantastic view of down town La Paz. For the location our room was peaceful at night and very secure.

Breakfast was included in our price, but is a very basic ‘continental’ Bolivian affair – stale bread and instant coffee. We found skipping breakfast and walking 2 minutes to Hotel Rosario for the breakfast buffet a much wiser choice.

The Good:

  • Central
  • Good value
  • High standard room for a budget accommodation

The not so Good:

  • Basic breakfast
