Hostal Sonia, Copacabana



The touristy gateway to Lake Titicaca, Copacabana has a range of accommodation options for all manner at budgets. We selected Hostal Sonia after reading favourable reviews on the family run accommodation.

This hostel was extremely cheap compared to the local competition – we secured a roomy double with private bathroom for just 50 Bolivianos – a price hard to beat.

The room itself was very convenient for our short stay, clean and a very comfortable bed with plenty of blankets. The private bathroom was of an average standard, the hot water supply was not the most reliable.

Hostal Sonia has a large roof terrace, great for views over the small town and Lake Titicaca. The terrace also doubles up as a large laundry and drying area. – A good bet to do the washing here before or after a trip to one of the islands in Lake Titicaca.

The staff at this hostel are very friendly and helpful. It was no problem to leave our luggage in the locker room while we explored Lake Titicaca for two days.

The Good:

  • Great value
  • Comfortable rooms
  • Helpful staff
  • Away from the main tourist drag

The not so Good:

  • Showers are rather unique
