Holiday Village, Byron Bay
![]()
The Holiday Village in Byron Bay is only a short five minute walk from bus stop, making it very convenient for the Greyhound backpackers. The hostel is also just ten minutes from the beach and next door to a well stocked supermarket.

The dorms here are unfortunatley very small, offering little space to move once everyone is in and unpacked. The dorms are located around a small swimming pool. Outside, picnic tables are good meeting and eating areas, although exposed to the elements. Internet was available to us, but the computers often crashed, and contained viruses. A TV room equipped with good comfy sofas was a welcomed refuge from the rain.
Opposite the hostel is the busy ‘Cheeky Monkey’ backpacker bar, providing cheap meals and cocktails. The Holiday Village is a large customer base for the bar, resulting in a very loud hostel after closing time.
The Good:
- Cheap bike hire
- Full facilities
- Location
The not so Good:
- Small rooms
- Gets very noisy once the bar shuts
