Camping at Wineglass Bay, Tasmania

14.00
Packing a small day pack for a nights camping at Wineglass Bay. Leaving the rented car and carrying our bags, a tent and two sleeping bags. Hopefully the hike will not be too long, because it is very hot.

16.00
Arriving at Wineglass Bay, a nature spot of absolute beauty. The sand is white and the water turquoise and crystal clear. We walk along the beach, trying to find the camping ground. Walking is exhausting because of the soft sand and high tide. We are greeted by many wallaby’s on our way.

Just found the small, quiet camping area at the end of the Wineglass Bay. Setting up our little tent, we stick needles from the trees underneath it to have a softer ground to sleep on. A good idea?!

18.00
Spotted a scorpion on my sleeping bag, should be a comfortable night!

19.00
Sitting on the beach for dinner. Banana and Baked Beans are on the menu. But with these surroundings even the most basic of food tastes fantastic. This place really calms me as I take in the beautiful landscape. The walk down to this bay was worth every drop of sweat.

Two wallaby’s are just raiding our neighbours tent, looking for food.

Curled up in our sleeping bags. We fall asleep to the sound of crickets and wallaby’s hopping through the bush. Tired but happy.
