A Very Normal Day in Taganga, Columbia

07.00
Waking up because the heat underneath the roof is becoming unbearable, even with two fans. Having the first shower of the day to cool down.
07.30
Ready for breakfast. I can’t wait for the fresh fruit salad with cereals and yoghurt.
08.15
Still waiting for breakfast, fortunately I’m used to the slower Columbian pace at Hostel Divanga, Taganga.
09.00
Hopping on the local minibus bus to go to the cash point in Santa Marta. I must have looked quite surprised when the Columbian guy behind me handed over my camera to me. It fell out of my pocket. Once more I’m struck by how honest, helpful and friendly Columbian people are!
12.00
Cash task successfully completed and back in Taganga. We are walking back to our hostel up the dusty unpaved roads, sweat covers my head – pool time!
15.00
Eaten a delicious chicken sandwich at the beach. The sun is burning down and even the temperature of the sea feels hot being 27 degrees.
17.00
Another fruit juice to cool down! The best fruit juices I’ve ever had were the ones in Taganga. I can’t think of anything more refreshing than a big mango or lulo juice with crushed ice. YUM.

20.00
The small town of Taganga gets very busy at night. A dancing competition is going on at the beach, street sellers make the last effort for today to sell one more necklace and local children are seeing how many of them can fit on one bike.
22.00
Heading back to the hostel. The local families sit in front of their houses by the road, each with a massive speaker playing very loud music. Anyway, they all look pretty relaxed in their rocking chairs.
